Next stop Sepang as ATC hits Malaysia for Round 3

31 July 2025

Ogiwara leads the charge, but Ikegami, Iidaka and Bunprawes are in the hunt

After two thrilling rounds in Thailand and Qatar, the Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup moves to Malaysia for Round 3, held at the Petronas Sepang International Circuit from 1–3 August. A legendary venue and home to some of the fiercest battles in ATC history, Sepang always delivers drama, and with the Championship heating up, expect fireworks.

Ogiwara remains unbeaten
Four races, four wins. Ryota Ogiwara arrives in Sepang with a perfect 100-point haul. The Japanese rider has been unstoppable so far in 2025, but the margins have been razor-thin — just 0.041s in Race 1 and 0.097s in Race 2 last time out in Qatar. His consistency and final-corner composure have made the difference so far.

Ikegami the shadow
You couldn’t ask for a closer rival than Seiryu Ikegami. Four races, four second places, and always within touching distance of the win. He’s pushed Ogiwara to the edge every time — could Sepang be where he finally makes the pass stick?

Japan dominating — but others knocking
Shingo Iidaka made it back-to-back podiums in Qatar and sits fourth overall, with fellow Japanese riders locking out the top step so far. But it’s not all one nation — Noprutpong Bunprawes has kept Thailand in the fight with a podium in Buriram and a close P4 in Race 2 at Lusail, while Alfonsi Daquigan from the Philippines and Badly Ayatullah from Indonesia continue to challenge near the front.

New location, new variablesSepang will be the first event of the season not run alongside MotoGP™, meaning all eyes will be on the ATC riders. The long straights, flowing corners and intense humidity of Sepang will test tyre management, physical conditioning and overtaking precision. And without the slipstream of experience from MotoGP running parallel, it’s the perfect stage to see who rises.

Track action takes place across the weekend, with both races set for Sunday at the Sepang International Circuit. With Ogiwara unbeaten but Ikegami closing in, and new names sniffing the podium, it’s all to play for at Sepang. Let’s race!

Race 1 (11 laps): Sunday 3rd August, 09:00 Local Time (UTC+8)
Race 2 (11 laps): Sunday 3rd August, 13:00 Local Time (UTC+8)
