General Information

The Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup began in 2014 and has since established itself as one of the biggest and most successful paths on the Road to MotoGP™. A series for riders between 14 and 17 years of age, the competitors race alongside MotoGP for most of their rounds, providing an incredible stage for the stars of tomorrow.

Each Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup round comprises two races, with the points system mirroring that of MotoGP, and riders compete on identical, Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup-liveried Honda NSF250R machines. Pirelli has been the official and sole tyre supplier for the Cup since 2024.

There are places up for grabs on the next steps on the Road to MotoGP™, with riders from the Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup often selected to race in both the FIM MotoJunior™ World Championship and the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup.

Two of the highest profile recent successes are 2023 Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup champion Veda Pratama, who has moved to the Rookies and will debut in the Junior Talent Team in MotoJunior in 2025, where he is set to be joined by 2024 Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup champion Zen Mitani. They follow in the Road to MotoGP footsteps of the likes of Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup alumni Ai Ogura and Somkiat Chantra, who both debut in MotoGP in 2025.

THE SERIES

For more than two decades, MotoGP has invested in opening the doors to motorcycle racing, creating the Road to MotoGP. Comprising initiatives all over the world providing millions of young riders the opportunity to excel, the Road to MotoGP is unrivalled in motorsport – opening doors, increasing access and racing towards global equality.

The Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup provides an opportunity for the most talented young riders in Asia and Oceania to race and learn. Riders compete on identical Honda NSF250R machinery and the organisation provides all-encompassing support to riders including insurance coverage, flight tickets and travel arrangements for each round, as well as managing the logistics involved in running a pan-Asian series. Renowned talent scout and former premier class racer Alberto Puig is also on board to help foster the careers of the young riders from the region.

The Idemitsu Moto4 Asia Cup is run by MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sports as part of our world-leading Road to MotoGP initiative.
