The final race of an epic season was concluded in style as Teerin Fleming denied Ryota Ogiwara on a run to the line
After Saturday’s Championship-deciding Race 1, the 2025 Idemitsu Asia Talent Cup closed out 2025 with a final lap showdown in Race 2. As had been the case for much of the season, Seiryu Ikegami and Ryota Ogiwara initially broke clear and traded paint before being reeled back in by the chasing pack, consisting of Alfonsi Daquigan, Teerin Fleming, Shingo Iidaka and Haruki Matsuyama. With just five laps to go, Ikegami crashed out from P1 at Turn 14, presenting a chance to his rivals. Onto the final lap, it was all about newly-crowned Champion Ogiwara vs rookie Fleming; into the last corner on the last lap, Ogiwara hit the front but now, it was drag race to the line. Pinching it back by 0.013s, Fleming took a career first win in the closest finish of the year, ahead of the #16 whilst Matsuyama was third and rookie of the year.
It’s over and out from 2025 but the hard work begins to get ready for a record breaking 2026 campaign! See you in Thailand at the end of February!
